Is Blogging Right for You?
Blogging is not for everyone. Blogging requires a lot of time, the more the better, as I know from my experience, and very often a lot of effort. That is unless you are happy with being a casual blogger, that publishes posts only once in a while, in an irregular fashion, and does not participate in the rich, social life of the blogosphere. I know that many people wouldn’t have satisfaction from being a casual blogger, as it isn’t as rewarding as beign a more dedicated blogger. Anyway, here are some questions to ask yourself before you start your blog:
1. Will I always have enough time to blog? Having a few weeks break from blogging can be harmful to your blog, unless you explain it to your readers before your break. You can also always schedule a post in advance if you know how to do it. This way there will be a post published on your blog, even if you are going to be in the middle of your vacation.
2. Is blogging really for me? Will I be really committed to it? You should enjoy it, if you want to be successful. If you think that you can stay committed then blogging is definitely for you!

Searching on the Internet
Searching for appropriate information on the Internet is an art in a sense. With so many websites scattered throughout the web, it is important to know how to look for the right thing, in the right way. Follow these steps to search the web more effectively:
1. Always try to narrow your search results as much as possible. This can be achieved by using a few keywords which describe what you are searching for. If you use only one or two words you might receive millions of results.
2. Use commands like + and – to make your search. If you, for example, are looking for a site about apples, but do not want an Apple Computers website to pop up, write “apples – computers”. It is quite easy to learn, and is one of the basic ways which will help you search on the internet a lot more effectively.
3. Use quotes to narrow your search considerably. If you know exactly what you are looking for, use the quotes. That way you will only receive websites that have desired word strings put together in the combination that you might want.
Of course, practice will make you better as well, because you will learn how the search engines operate.

Buying a Blog - Is it Worth it?
There were some debates going on about the advantages of buying a blog. Here are some of my thoughts, which will perhaps, help you make up your mind :
• You buy a blog with high Page Rank, usually 3, 4 or 5, good Technorati and Alexa stats. You no longer have to focus that much on improving those rankings, although you should not stop doing it at all. If you stop working on them, eventually they will fade away.
• You buy a blog with an established readership. The address of your blog guarantees you a certain amount of traffic. However, you may still need to advertise to increase the number of readers.
• You buy a blog already with its content. This is perhaps the biggest advantage, however will you be able to create similar quality content to keep the blog updated? After all, blogs need to be updated on a regular basis. If you won’t be able to create similar quality articles yourself, you might start losing subscribers. So while this is the biggest advantage, it is also the biggest potential problem.
It seems there are many advantages, but of course there are also some disadvantages. What do you think about it?

Choosing a Blog Name
Lately, I heard an opinion that it is a good idea when the blog name is the same as the domain name. The reason for this is mainly search engine optimization. If your blog name is the same as domain name there is very little confusion when linking to you. People are simply going to use your blog name as the anchor text. On the other hand, if your domain name and blog name will differ, there would be some people linking to you with your websites URL anchor text. While that would not be a disaster it would not benefit SEO. There is also another reason – it is easy to remember a domain name that is identical to the blogs name. It is as simple as that. If visitors are going to remember your blog name, they will not need to bookmark your site in order to visit it again in the future. You need to take into consideration, that there is quite a small chance that the first time someone visits your site he will want to bookmark it. Of course, there are many other facts to take into consideration, but I believe that the advice I have given can be quite useful in many circumstances.
